• The Propeller Water Current Meter is a world recognized designed propeller type instrument for measuring the velocity of water from 0.025 to 10.0 m/sec. in rivers, streams, open canals, pressure pipes, lakes and seas.
• Current Meter consists of streamlined body which houses the sensing mechanism, an encapsulated sensor, and the propeller shaft mounted such that each rotation of the shaft produces a pulse from the sensor. The pulses are conducted through a lead to the surface where they are counted by a current meter Counter. The velocity of the stream is proportional to the rotation of the propeller. The following equation is used to calculate the velocity.
• The standard configuration is supplied with 1 Mtr. x 3 sections of 20mm diameter rod for locating in shallow to medium depth streams or rivers. The rod is graduated every 1cm. Apoint and base plate is used to position the rod in the river or stream bed.
• The Current Meter provides a pulse to a Current Meter Counter. The Counter is a complete Digital counter which can be set to count pulses for a specific time period (10-90 secs). The counter stops when the time period has elapsed and shows a digital reading for the number of pulses.

• Quick stream flow measuring is best done with a water current meter to measure water current velocity. Stream flow measuring is easily accomplished using a water current meter and a tape measure. The current velocity meter allows you to measure stream flow velocity in meters per second. The average stream flow velocity times the cross sectional area of the stream determines the stream flow measurement in meters per second. 
• Handheld Direct Velocity indicator is connected to Water current meter using electric cable. Water Current Meter is lowered in water using rope cable manually or using bridge outfit. The rotation of water current meter is proportional to water velocity. Every rotation by magnetic reed switch assembly gives contact pulse output. 
• The direct velocity meter has alphanumeric display, which indicates direct velocity in meters / second. First of all the velocity formula (which is given by CW&PRS while calibration) is entered & stored in velocity indicator. The duration for which the pulses are measured are also pre-settable from 10 sec. to 180 secs (User may select the period for which the unit will count the pulses & make calculation). The velocity indicator counts the pulses generated by water current meter for specified period & calculates Velocity from internal stored formula. It is very user friendly, Just press START button & wait for specified duration & direct velocity is indicated directly in meters / seconds. The instrument operates on standard 9V Alkaline Battery.

Each rotation of current meter causes contact closure pulse output over cable. The Current meter is lowered in river, canal using wading rod, crane, winch or boat.
• The data logger consist of 20 x 4 alphanumeric LCD display, RISC micro controller, real time clock, inbuilt non volatile memory & battery. The pulse output from current meter is sensed, sampled for 20 seconds, calculated for displaying current water flow speed in meter / sec & stored in internal memory along with date & time stamp. At various positions of river & at different depths the readings are taken & stored.
